The bold gesture and the countercultural stance never fail to catch my attention. I’m inspired by those who mine the depths of their courage and stare disapproval, even death, in the face for the sake of what is precious and beloved. I’m moved by the witness of those who cannot be in peace until they give expression to the Holy within them.

The genesis for “Oblation” came from a reflection I was preparing on Mark 14:3-9, where love impels this woman into a seemingly foolish, extravagant act, an act which is forever after proclaimed to her memorial. How I treasure such “foolishness” and long to embody it in my own everyday living!

In my experiences in Haiti, Peru, El Salvador, Mexico, the United States and beyond, I’ve been welcomed into the everyday lives of people who love with the same kind of extraordinary faithfulness and largeness of heart. These holy ones have illumined for me what truly matters and what is most precious in God’s sight. The faces and stories of such witnesses continue to shape and stretch my worldview.

My ministry is mobile: as a writer, presenter, and spiritual guide, I offer retreats and presentations on the road. It’s the deepest kind of soul work as I’m continually entering into Mystery and standing in the presence of the Holy. I’m both humbled and graced because every day I’m invited to enter into an arena where our human family’s longing and collective ache for something greater than we are is on display. Every day I hold this treasure, God’s dream for our world, in my own unsure hands and trembling heart, and I say “Thank you.”
