Facing the Music

Bread of Life

Monday, July 30. Read 2 Samuel 11:26-12:13a. David realizes his sin before God. Think of a time when you have come face to face with your own sinfulness.

Write a prayer of confession.

Words from The Word: Jesus said, “What God wants you to do is to believe in the one he sent.” -John 6:29, GNT

This Week…

Lectionary Texts:

Audio Lectio: Hear and pray the words from John 6:28-33.

Pray for: the people and countries of The Caribbean.

Spiritual Tools: Making time for rest and Sabbath requires a lot of self care and compassion. Read more about this in Trevor Hudson’s article, Becoming a Compassionate Neighbor to Myself.

When a soul is tempted, troubled, and left to itself in unrest, then it is time to pray to become flexible and compliant for God. By no kind of prayer can we make God flexible toward us. For God is always the same in love. … Whenever we see the need to pray, our Lord God follows us, helping our desire.

Prayer: God of peace and stillness, open my heart to your eternal life and my ears to your call to ministry. Amen.
