Anointing of David

Wednesday, July 4. Independence Day (U.S.). Celebrate
the history of the U.S. and the freedoms it offers. Pray for those around the world who do not have freedom.

Share your prayer for freedom.

Words from The Word: Paul said, “I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” -2 Corinthians 12:9, NRSV

This Week…

Lectionary Texts:

Audio Lectio: Listen to and pray along with the words from Mark 6:1-13.

Pray for: the people and countries of Bolivia, Chile, and Peru.

Spiritual Tools: It’s far more than a day of the week – begin this journey of Rest by exploring Sabbath as a spiritual practice.

Like other spiritual disciplines (reading scripture, prayer, fasting), Sabbath rest takes time, effort, and perseverance. Sometimes it means saying no to good activities in order to make room for rest. But the rewards of Sabbath rest are greater than I had imagine. When I am able to rest, I find peace. Even when my life is in chaos, I can sit back and know that God is in control.

Prayer: God of grace, forgive me when I think what I do is so important that I can’t stop to rest. Amen.
