Anointing of David

Tuesday, July 3. Verse 14 of Psalm 48 declares that God will be our guide forever. What guidance do you sense God is giving you about rest?

Make a list of any changes you would like to make in the coming weeks.

Words from The Word: The Lord said to Paul, “My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.” -2 Corinthians 12:9, CEB

This Week…

Lectionary Texts:

Audio Lectio: Listen to and pray along with the words from Mark 6:1-13.

Pray for: the people and countries of Bolivia, Chile, and Peru.

Spiritual Tools: It’s far more than a day of the week – begin this journey of Rest by exploring Sabbath as a spiritual practice.

Quote:

Like other spiritual disciplines (reading scripture, prayer, fasting), Sabbath rest takes time, effort, and perseverance. Sometimes it means saying no to good activities in order to make room for rest. But the rewards of Sabbath rest are greater than I had imagine. When I am able to rest, I find peace. Even when my life is in chaos, I can sit back and know that God is in control.

Prayer: God of grace, forgive me when I think what I do is so important that I can’t stop to rest. Amen.

I like the rabbi’s suggestion for play. Tried to send to friends without success.
The idea of play appeals to me. Living alone, I don’t have the opportunities for play that I used to have. That will be something I want to look at.
