True Vine

Thursday, May 3. National Day of Prayer. Pray for the needs of our nation—for its people and for its leaders. Pray to discern the ways you can respond to the needs of others.

Share your prayer for the nation with us.

Words from The Word: Royal power belongs to the Lord. He rules all the nations. -Psalm 22:28, NLT

This Week…

Lectionary Texts:

Audio Lectio: Jesus says “I am the vine” – listen to and pray these words from John 15:5-7.

Pray for: the people and countries of Eritrea and Ethiopia.

Spiritual Tools: Hearing the call of God is only half the struggle — we must also learn to discern that call in our lives. Let’s get started with Discerning God’s Will by Nicole Corlew.

Quote:

O God, who calls those who will follow along with you, show us our duty today, and give us bread for our journey. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.

O Lord God Almighty:
Hear this prayer for America.
We are so messed up in so many ways.
Fix us.
Let us never again become as adulterated as we are now.
Fill us with Your love.
Fill us with Your love for our own people.
Being made afresh may we carry Your light throughout all the world.
This we pray in Jesus’ Most Holy Name.
Amen.

I pray that the United States becomes a nation that will be able peacemaking and not about spending 60% of the national budget for making war.
I pray that the United States becomes a nation that will acknowledge that Divine in all persons of all religious faiths and traditions.
I pray that the United States will become a nation where all citizens have the right and opportunity to make a living wage, able to feed their families, have adequate health care and education.
I pray that the United States will no longer be owned and legislated by the wealthiest persons or corporations.
