Everyone can get involved in earth care, regardless of where they live, how much money they make, how old they are, or how much free time they have. I’ve established some everyday practices that have a positive impact on the environment.

I turn out the lights when I leave a room. I use email as much as possible; and when I receive a package in the mail, I save the box to use again. When I go out to eat, I choose a restaurant that serves organic or locally-grown food.

I may not have the money to install solar panels or the time to grow a community garden, but I can take everyday steps toward better earth care.

What are your spiritual practices that care for the earth?

10 GREAT WAYS TO CARE FOR CREATION

by Anne Broyles

  1. Thank God for our beautiful world and show your thankfulness in the way you live!
  2. Be an example of good earth care so others will be inspired to also care for creation.
  3. Learn as much as you can about the habitat, plants, and animals in your area.
  4. Carry a reusable aluminum or BPA-free plastic bottle instead of using throwaway water bottles.
  5. Recycle everything you can.
  6. Don’t litter — ever!
  7. Before buying something new, think about whether you really need it.
  8. Clean out a room, and donate the things that you don’t need but are in good condition.
  9. Talk to your family about ways you can reduce, reuse, or recycle in your home.
  10. Share your earth-care spiritual practices with others. Tell us your ideas!
